On the day I was on set for Tales Of The Arabian Nights, a newcomer arrived mid-afternoon directly off a plane from Germany whose swarthy looks had everyone -- cast and crew-- turning heads. It was the Turkish-born stud's first time in the US and his first gay porn shoot, and he hadn't even picked his porn name yet. We helped him come up with it: Aybars, a figure in Turkish mythology which translates into "beautiful Leopard Prince", and -- given his leonine good looks -- seemed appropriate.
 
How did Chris Ward find you?
 
It's really funny how Chris (Ward) found me. One day I was online with my cam (on cam4.com) and played in front of the camera in my room, showed my body, bulge and cock. Someone sent me a private message from the chatroom. He liked me and I should contact him. He had a film studio. I didn't really understand what he meant. What was it like growing up gay in the middle east?
 
I was born in a big city in Turkey. I was always gay from the childhood beginning. Coming out was not easy. I didn't know why I was different from other boys. I learned more and more about being gay and lived it out secretly. Turkish culture can still not accept an open homosexuality and it can be really dangerous for gays. There are many examples of gays, whose coming out caused big problems with no happy ends. Turkey is changing and I'm sure it will be more tolerable for gays in the next generations.. There are still punisments with executing for being gay.

But the idea of a "Jersey Shore" gay porn parody makes sense since the show is already a porn parody of itself, so I say good job to Jet Set for being the first to get it down (they've already done two different straight versions, but who's counting?).

Sadly, this film has nothing to do with the Bratislavan gay porn mega-studio; it's actually an adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's 1885 novel about a ruthless social climber named Georges Duroy who rises to from poverty to the upper echelons of society by taking advantage of rich women.

While Bel Ami means "beautiful friend" in French, its unclear why George Duroy (the legendary gay porn director) named himself after one of literature's least-likable characters. Was Duroy making a larger statement about the shallowness of pornography or had he merely not done his homework when he chose his pseudonym? No one seems to know, not even the Bel Ami employees I've asked (After I read short novel on a long flight a few years ago I was determined to find out.)

Either way, let's hope some queen in the casting office is able to slip in a cameo by Lukas Ridgeston, Brandon Manilow, or The Peters Twins.
