Luke Hass added himself yesterday to the growing rolls of porn stars (Diesel Washington, Vinnie D'Angelo) finished with their exclusive contracts and hitting the web to look for work. Stocks aren't the only things that are undervalued these days -- I'm scraping together my war bonds to see if I can't put one of these on my personal payroll.
With the today's election and special Oprah episode yesterday on vibrators, it's becoming evident we've entered a new era. Old taboos have been shattered and a new compassion has fallen on the land. Take the oddly sweet marriage of Michael Lucas last week. Lucas, deemed a gay porn neocon by The New Republic only months ago, was humbled to accept the hand of a possible communist sympathizer. Are we in backwards land?
Given the fact that Chi Chi LaRue weighs about 95 lbs, evidently so. Lucas, whose previous best known union was in the Venn diagram of Bottega Veneta and watersports, is now known to straight guys as a ladies' man. In the most recent issue of Esquire, in an article on women who love porn, Lucas acknowledged that his body is jill-off material for quiet a few of the fairer sex based on the volume of mail he gets. (Given his rave reviews Savannah Sampson gave their during the filming of La Dolce Vita, we shouldn't be surprised.)
We have to admit though, that it's not Lucas' romantic side that endears us to him, it's the side that dresses up in eyeliner, pees on twinks and attempts to capture the magic of farts on film. There was a time when rape was pretty much an abstract concept to gay men. Now suddenly -- and strangely -- it's all over the place, especially our porn. Let's recount the strange and unfortunate confluence of fact and fiction of the past couple of months, shall we?
In August, Mason Wyler posted a vivid and graphic rape fantasy on his blog. A few months later he actually was brutally raped. Instead of coming to his support, many people doubted his story. He was ridiculed by the police and fellow porn star Chad Manning even went so far as to suggest it was some kind of publicity stunt, which ultimately prompted Mason to publish extensive, and irrefutable proof on his blog.*
Then last week we saw the simultaneous release of two gay porn films (one very amateur, one very big budget) that explore the rape theme, the tone of the later even spawned its own mini-controversy as some fans expressed concern.
Finally (I hope), earlier this week we learned that straight porn star Jack Venice was convicted for raping a female student at Washington State University. I should point out that Jack's not gay (in fact, he was once quoted as saying, "I am 100% comfortable with having gay fans but I am not gay and never will be for any price,") but has been featured in many of our fave "gay-friendly" sites like SG4GE and Mike Hancock. (It may come as a shock to you to learn that Jack was represented by David Forest.)

*As it turns out, Mike and I were on an Internet-free vacation when Mason's story broke which is why we ended up never writing about it. For the record we've always been on Mason's side.
In other weeks, turning on the computer meant checking Corbin Fisher or NakedSword or Manhunt for updates. But this week, it's hard to think about anything else but the election or the economy, and thinking about cum dumpsters has given way to credit default swaps. It's starting to pervert my brain.
You know how in a cartoon one character will look at another when he's hungry and see a pork chop where his friend once stood? Well, today I saw a pic of Tiger Tyson from Pitbull Productions's Take Em Down 3 and saw John McCain. More specifically, I was forced to remember a porn shoot last May when Tiger Tyson argued that the game was rigged ("ain't no black man getting into office") and that he'd write Obama personally if he got into office.
Yes, I realize that porn stars aren't pundits (though Tyson arguably has more foreign policy experience than Palin) All I'm asking is that will someone please speed up the next week so that I can ignore Pollster and go back to enjoying poles?

Gay panties are in a gaywad over Raging Stallion's To The Last Man teaser, which features several porn stars being murdered. The teaser was leaked on Thursday and the debate over violence in the movies came fast and furious. Raging Stallion head Chris Ward responded on his blog, but given the debate over Stag Homme's rape fantasy, Armed, it's likely we won't figure out how the public really feels until the sales start coming in.
While the whole things is a bit disturbing, there's also a bit of the ladies-protesting-too much. Lucas faked his death last year and everyone erupted. Titan staged a kidnapping for Folsom Filth and neighbors called the cops. Raging Stallion can't be SO surprised that this type of reaction was going to come. If you need us, we'll be in the bathroom carving a backwards R on our face and claiming Ricky Sinz did it.
